Instagram Rolls Out THREE NEW Features! πŸ™ŒπŸ”₯πŸ“²

This past week, Instagram pushed out three new features in the app, making it easier than ever to reach new audiences and stay connected with your existing followers!

Let’s go over each new feature:

1️⃣ Repost
Reposting already exists on other apps, such as TikTok, so many of you may already be familiar with it. This feature allows you to share and repost public reels and feed posts with your followers. Each repost is credited to the original account, making it now easier to reach new people. And if someone reposts your content, your account may be recommended to that person’s followers, even if those people don’t follow you. πŸ€—

2️⃣ Instagram Map
You can now share your last active location with your friends via the Instagram Friends Map. You and your friends can also share when you’re trying out a cool new location, such as a coffee shop, boutique, or hiking trail. This feature can be turned on and off at any time. The content shared with the location tag will appear on the friends map for 24 hours after posting, then it will disappear.

A few important things to note (source: about.instagram.com/blog)
Location sharing is off unless you opt in. If you do share your location with friends, you have controls to customize this experience:

β€’ You choose who you share your location with: friends (followers you follow back), Close Friends, Only selected friends, or no one.

β€’ You can choose to not share location in specific places or with specific people.

β€’ If you use location sharing, your location is updated whenever you open the app or return to the app if it’s been running in the background. You can turn off location sharing at any time.

β€’ If you’re a parent with supervision set up for your teen, you have control over their location sharing experience on the map. You will receive a notification if your teen starts sharing their location, giving you the opportunity to have important conversations about how to safely share with friends. You can decide whether your teen has access to location sharing on the map and see who your teen is sharing their location with.

3️⃣ “Friends” tab in Reels
Another similar feature to TikTok, the “friends” button is now located under your reels tab in the app, at the top next to “reels”. You can now see public content that your friends have interacted with. Instagram launched this feature earlier this year, so you may have already noticed it. But now it’s available globally!

All of these new tools are just ways to help your account reach new people and potential connections. 🀝πŸ”₯
